In order to explore the reflection of the Bolivarian policy on the University of Los Andes (ULA), based on its statistical bulletins, the behavior of the budget assigned (PA, in Spanish) and the evolution of the registration fees between the years 1986-2008 is scrutinized. The absence of PA redirected for the years 2006, 2007 and 2008 was observed, along 1986-1998 the registration fee decreased in 23%; between 1998 and 2008 the PA increased eleven times and the registration fee 0.7 times. The Initial Cash Balance increased consistently during the whole period. 17 years were needed to reach the level of students registered in 1987. The percentage of enrolled students in relation to the Andean population in the states of Táchira, Mérida and Trujillo with ages between 15 and 25 years old went from 11.8% in 1987 to 6.4% in 1998.
This paper does an interpretative analysis of the topic of citizen inclusion through information technologies (ITs) aiming to understand how participation degrees of ITs in the Venezuelan population are evaluated. The premise is that education is held on an ideological baggage that represents an elitist notion, since it excludes a good part of human beings, and today, is still associated to technological determinism that separates any responsibility that we may have in the creation of a new model of society. Some of the policies’ features that have been used aiming to exclude masses of human beings that have not had access to education, based on an ideological conception that denies people’s participation in social wellbeing. Last, an analytical diagnose of the current state if ITs in Venezuela is done in the search of incorporating citizens in higher educational levels, to then make some definite suggestions to reach better and higher levels of citizen incorporation based on digital features.
The dialogical learning model has meant a true turn for modern teaching, specially for pedagogies developed in areas of deep social and educational disparity in different geographical contexts (Europe and South America); serving as a fundamental support in several transformation processes that schools have assumed aiming to overcome educational disparities. The transformational processes experienced by Chilean public schools that worked under the dialogical learning model as the axis of their transformation of the pedagogical action in the classroom have allowed suggesting a new principle to the before mentioned model called “principle of emotionality-corporeity” through the systematic follow-up of case studies and under the scope of contemporary neuroscience.
This article is based on the application of a computerized game for learning the nomenclature of inorganic chemical compounds by Chemistry 1 Students in the Agronomy Engineering carrier at Lisandro Alvarado University (UCLA) when formulating and naming chemical species. The first step was an empirical investigation of the students’ skills when writing and naming inorganic chemicals which showed a low performance on their part. The second step is the evaluation of the game through an applied pilot test on the students. It was verified that the computerized game helps learning inorganic chemistry nomenclature.
This research is documentary and analytical; it is raised from the perspective of physics and through a holistic vision a retrospective analysis about the different events in a universal level in the evolution of processes of the human thought. In this sense, it can be considered that from the point of view of physics serious transformations have been incremented influencing the future of humanity and its appreciation of reality. Such is the case of the mechanistic theory that gave origin to the reductionist paradigm that has submerged our universe into a planetary chaos, and the theory of relativity and quantum, which lead into the change of paradigm promoting a new vision of the world. This last one specially, promoted methodologies with more holistic and human posing.
The following paper aims to fundamentally demonstrate that creative writing (text production) can be motivated by putting into practice Gianni Rodari’s (Italian author) techniques creator of The Grammar of Fantasy - Introduction to the art of inventing stories (1990). It is important to point out that after explaining the techniques of the abovementioned author, during the Children Literature course in the Integral Pre-school major, the participants of the workshop are invited to write texts freely, not aiming to trace or copy the techniques but producing texts under a simple orientation that will provide the selected technique(s) in a pressure-free environment and in a determined time. The original texts will be corrected, discussed and improved towards their subsequent final presentation. This work with the students has been a pleasant game and has been able to revolutionize pedagogical style bringing about with it a fulfilling teaching in the cognoscitive and humanistic area. Putting these techniques into practice is able through creativity which is defined as the group of methods, techniques, strategies and/or exercises that develop aptitudes and stimulate creative attitudes in people through groups.
Initial education as the first level of the educational system with an important and essential goal such as addressing boys and girls so they can acquire socio-affective experiences using reading as the vehicle to understand the relationship of individuals with their surroundings, we can state that schools are not offering the space to meet this purpose. The purpose is to suggest mediatory actions that contribute with children developing abilities and skills necessary to build oral and written language, making them human beings capable of learning and teaching during their entire lives. A descriptive field research was used with a population of 120 Technical Degree Students in Preschool Education. The instrument used consisted on a survey through a questionnaire and some of the conclusions were: Narrating stories allows establishing a close communication with children and makes it easier for the teacher to mold childhood anxiety to blend playfulness and affection. 50% of active teachers do not have the academic preparation to perform the teaching-learning process in preschool; furthermore they are not aware of the importance of storytelling to motivate values in children who attend preschool.
The article denounces the inequity of capitalist schooling, based on the job of teaching to read and write but not producing readers. However, when evaluating its students regarding the written language, schools favor those who belong to privileged sectors of society, who have in their homes the opportunity to develop reading skills, damaging those who come from less privileged sectors. These last ones do not learn how to read and write properly, most of them do not reach a full domain of the written language and go through coursers of low academic performance. The student coming from these sectors are the ones who go for the teaching career, creating a vicious circle: teachers who do not read well teaching student who do not have the required conditions at home to be educated as readers. In order to change this reality, alternative suggestions tending to make basic education more democratic are put forward.
Based on the principle that epistemological mastering by the teacher in the process of learning the written language leads to consider several elements among which we can mention: the genetic essence of the learner, the nature of the content presented, the skill that needs to be developed and the type of multimedia tools pretended to be used as didactical resource. The research aimed to: integrate the stadiums of linguistic skills of the learner using multimedia resources to learn the written language through a study of theoretical nature with a documental and biographical design; based on the theories of Tellería, De Saussure, Chomsky, Vaughaw, and Séanle among others. As a result, it was established that the use of a determined multimedia tool by stadium, taking into account the alternative offered by this resource (images, text, graphics, audio, etc.) in contrast with the genetic features of the learner and the content to be developed. It is concluded that, through a pedagogical treatment, multimedia technology represents a very pertinent tool to contribute with the process of learning the written language. Educating high school teachers in the area of reading?
Learning how t read is a process that requires certain conditions from the learner. From this perspective, it seems obvious that educators must have specific competences to appropriately lead its teaching and learning. But, what happens when teachers are found without the necessary tools for this end? Raising such situation from the university made up this study. Its own nature is qualitative and supported by an interview conducted on 14 professors. Once the data was analyzed the author, following Sole et al (2001:69), concludes that it is necessary to welcome this type of activities, and in this case the beneficiaries are the high school teachers.
Recent research state that in Venezuela as far as the curricular aspect is concerned, the proposal of teaching and learning the mother tongue falls apart from the current linguistic reflections and contrasts with traditional approaches. Nonetheless, it is not possible to ignore that there are still some characteristical features from old linguistic models, whether it is in the teacher praxis or in some of the tools the teacher uses in its daily practice. Therefore, the following research aims to study a familiar media in our educational culture: school texts. The methodology in this research is descriptive and explanatory, with a non experimental design of longitudinal type of group evolution. 1937 suggested activities are studied in 15 Spanish language school texts. Initially, the activities’ proposals were classified according to the linguistic skill fomented. This classification was done along the six content blocks these materials are structured in. Then, two from these blocks were selected: Oral Communicative Interaction and Written Communicative Interaction, later an analysis of the suggested activities was done in them matching them in attention to three of the conceptual contents developed in each block and the type of motivated linguistic skill (receptive or productive). Results showed that the editorial proposal regarding teaching and learning the mother tongue in our country is only tinged by a renovation veneer. Single-mothers teachers: Their impact on the emerging Socio-cult ural pedagogical praxis.
The importance of cooperative work in order to achieve meaningful learning in mathematic classes during the first two stages of Basic Education motivated doing a qualitative study, based on research-action. Following the suggested steps for this type of methodology, we performed a diagnose to then design and apply strategies based on cooperative work. During the evaluation we were able to see the importance of cooperative work in mathematic classes, aiming to promote motivation, interaction and meaningful learning. In the conclusions we point out as fundamental characteristics to design cooperative strategies: previous knowledge of the students, attention to the four areas of math (arithmetic, algebra, geometry and statistic), the interrelation with the other curricular areas and the incorporation of playful activities.
This article is framed within the controversy of strategies when developing values at home and at school. It shows the educational institution as the place where the possibility of establishing relationships with individuals with different visions of everyday knowledge is opened from the codes they have learned at home. The study was performed at Cuernavaca Montessori Primary School (Morelo State, Mexico) using research-action methodology. 54 students from 6 to 12 years old, 4 teachers, the school principal and 68 parents were involved, aiming to design strategies for a proposal of developing values involving parents and the educational community, therefore improving the practices suggested in the two programs of values development currently at the school: the formal, demanded by the Public Education Ministry in the curricular plan, and the one developed by the institution from its own: Sathya Sai. The process of consultation and interaction among the subjects who participated to the point of theorizing their practice to direct the strategies into a proposal that involves the initial programs in a globalized logic is presented.
The Psychopedagogical and Methodological Program is presented as a valid alternative, since it places teaching-learning methods (mainly the active and participative ones) to the service of personological development in general and particularly of cognoscitive competence considering the referents (student, teacher, content and context) and their narrow relations with the rest of the components of the teacher-educational process. The proposal summarizes the theoretical budgets, as well as the objectives, contents, preparation ways and evaluation forms that must be considered during the Capacitation of the teaching staff in the career of Computer Engineering at Ciego de Avila University, since they result in adequate activity and communication conditions to stimulate cognoscitive competence in the teacher-methodological task. Currently, its potentialities to facilitate a more coherent educational practice with the principles of the new educational paradigm are being corroborated by experts.
The French pedagogue Philippe Meirieu is one of the most influential French intellectuals in modern education. His vast work invites us to study it from the hermeneutical perspective holding for this end the concept of pedagogy. This concept is the center of our academic interests and its main aim is to understand pedagogues’ capacitation. In this article we preview some results from our research done along 2006-2008. A tracing of some biographical aspects of the author, some texts from his written work, the building of his model of thought, his concepts and sub-concepts is done. As a complement three moments of his capacitation are announced -learning, philosophy and politics- including the outline of his model of thought.
Bernard Charlot has thought in a different way about the role of practice and knowledge at school. He, in fact, through revisiting school achievements and not school failure opposes the current postures linked with the transmission of knowledge; for instance, those that consider the transmission as a “banking” capital or better yet as a finished product that reduces pedagogy to a simple technique of learning. From radically questioning what learning means, Bernard Charlot is forced to consider knowledge as a process with its own shapes. The student he presents can disappear in objectivation. Its schooling process is previewed from the sole angle of trajectory, meaning linear. But seen from the perspective of a construction, the schooling process turns devious in itself by integrating multiple senses, even contradictory or conflictive. Bruner's pedagogical ideas: From the “cognitive revolution” to the “cult ural revolution” http://hml-ve.scielo.org/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S1316-49102009000100028&lng=pt&nrm=iso&tlng=pt El presente trabajo destaca dos períodos en la vida y obra del psicólogo americano Jerome S. Bruner.
This article highlights two periods in the life and work of American psychologist Jerome S. Bruner. The first coincides with his staying at Harvard (1945-1972) which we could call his cognitive revolution era” and a second with his teaching done at Oxford (1972-1979) which leads to his current times in the New York Law School. This is what we call his “cultural revolution era.” On both periods in Bruner’s biography there are highlighted contributions done by him that have been a landmark in the development of the Science of Education in the 20ieth Century and current times. The “spiral curriculum”, the “scaffolding”, the #educational reform” or the “reciprocal teaching” are notions described in this article.
